Basics of Social Media Marketing
Let’s be honest: the world has gone social. In fact, 30% of all time (and counting) spent online is allocated to social media. Social media is a great way to get your message out there. I can assist you with brand awareness, sponsored content, or a combination of the two!
I keep it short: While Facebook is a great place to start, I prefer to get to know each client individually. Because every brand is different, deciding which platform(s) to spend time on is influenced by factors such as where your audience is, what products and/or services your company offers, and the goals you want to achieve.
Most platforms recommend posting at least twice a week, but some social media platforms are exceptions. Twitter and Pinterest can be updated more frequently if your team has the time and content. Using TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram Stories is another great way to stay top-of-mind. Because stories are only available for 24 hours, you have the opportunity to create a sense of urgency and exclusivity with your content without being overly aggressive.
You get what you give in the world of social media. It is critical to regularly share industry-related content, “real-time” photos, and even user-generated content. In the end, social media is just a social network. Engaging with other brands and your social audience in a personable manner demonstrates to people that you are more than just a brand – you are a person like them. And always keep in mind to give an added value to your community.
In the long run, creating a batch of social posts and scheduling them (you can download my media planner for free here) ahead of time will save you a lot of time. You can use Facebook Business Manager to schedule all posts that go live on Facebook and Instagram. Not all platforms allow you to schedule photos and videos in advance, I chose to post in real time to LinkedIn, Pinterest, Google+, and YouTube.
In addition to the tools mentioned above, Google Docs can be used to write and edit social posts collaboratively. To create and size images the functions of either Instagram or TikTok are practical. Canva is an excellent platform to create any kind of posts, too.
Artificial Intelligence is the must-have tool these days. Absolutely recommended are tools like Copy.ai .
Like most other things on social media, it depends on the platform you’re using. Let’s break it down:
You can Delete Comments on:
– YouTube
You cannot Delete Comments on:
Other Facebook Options
While your Facebook Business page cannot delete user comments, you can block specific words and profanity from appearing on it. Unwanted comments can also be hidden. This is all managed through the ‘Settings’ tab in the upper right-hand corner.
If you receive a negative comment or review, I believe it is best to respond with a solution, such as requesting that the reviewer contact you directly (via direct messaging, email, or phone) to resolve the situation. This shows the public that you are proactive and care about making your customers happy.
How to Advertise on Social Media
In order to switch subscriptions, you will need to cancel your current subscription and resubscribe with the billing plan of your choice.
A post is a piece of content that you share on social media for your followers to see naturally. A paid post that targets an audience other than your followers based on demographics and interests is known as an ad. Because most social media algorithms limit the number of organic followers who see your company’s content, I recommend promoting important or relevant posts to ensure that more people see them. Another good indicator of a post that should be promoted is its organic performance. If it’s doing well on its own, investing in it will expand its reach.
Ads go by different names on different social media platforms, but they all serve the same purpose. To increase engagement, you can set up an advertisement directly from the post on each platform, or you can set up a more advanced ad through the social channel’s advertising platform.
A “boosted” post is the most basic form of advertising on Facebook. They are made by allocating advertising budget to an existing post on your business page. When you choose to “boost” an existing post, it will appear in more people’s news feeds. When the goal is to increase audience engagement, such as post likes, shares, and comments, boosted or promoted posts are typically used. If you want a more personalized approach to advertising, Facebook Ads are the way to go.
Facebook Ads (that are created also for Instagram) are a more advanced form of Facebook advertising that requires a Facebook Ads Manager account, also known as Facebook Business Manager. Facebook ads provide the most ad options, and the style you choose will be determined by your marketing goal. Among these alternatives are:
– Brand recognition
– Reach
-Traffic
-Engagement
– App Installs
– Video views
– Lead generation
– Text Messages
– Transformations
– Catalog sales
– Store Visits
You can advertise on LinkedIn in the same as on Facebook, either through their specific advertising platform or by simply sponsoring a post from your page. Because LinkedIn provides detailed information about careers, their Campaign Manager is an excellent tool for targeting professionals in a specific area or field. LinkedIn is primarily used to promote job openings or industry-specific blogs that you want to be seen by other digital marketing professionals.
It’s difficult to put a precise figure on your social media marketing budget, but certain platforms have limitations. I don’t spend money on ads for everything I post on social media, but when I do, it’s at least 30 CHF/day. Obviously, spending more money will usually yield more results, but a little can go a long way. I recommend starting small and testing ads to see what works best for your brand.
